Men’s Ministry

The men’s group that is currently active at our church started about four and a half years ago.  One of our men discovered a book called “Wild at Heart” by John Eldredge and suggested that a group of men get together to study, with the guidance of our Heavenly Father, and rediscover our true heart for the Lord.  The intention was not to meet for a Bible study class, but to meet to discover how to be the men that God has made us to be... spiritual leaders, husbands, and fathers.
This truly has been an adventure and our group is growing spiritually every day.  The last thing we want to aspire to be is a bunch of nice guys in church.  We want to be men who long for a battle to fight and an adventure to live.  As we went through the “Wild at Heart” series, we grew as a group and became a band of brothers.
We meet on Tuesday nights at 7:00 p.m. and we do a variety of things.  At present we are doing visitations.  This is new for us.  We visit members from our congregation that are ill and can’t make it to church.  We usually get to visit with two people a night, which involves talking, listening, praying, and giving them a card.  We do manage to get an ice cream before we get home.
This has been a tremendous blessing for us.  Praise God!  We are always looking for things to do together as well.  We have spent weekends at cabins, gone on men’s retreats, had family picnics, fun activities, and shared how the Lord is working in our lives.
God has blessed our group enormously.  Many of the men in this group are doing things in and out of church that they would never have done in the past.  It is great to share our struggles and victories with men who love Christ and continue to seek Him.  I love these men, this band of brothers, and I would love to have others join us.

God bless you,
